Synyster Gates
Brian Elwin Haner, Jr. 7 de julio de 1981, guitarrista líder, pianista y corista de A7x.
Su primera guitarra se la dieron sus abuelos y una de las primeras canciones que aprendió fue Stairway to Heaven. La mayoría de las canciones fueron transcritas por él mismo y en sexto grado, ya tocaba de oído.
Gates también ha dicho que cuando empezó a tocar la guitarra, la escuela ya no le importaba . Al parecer obtuvo buenas notas hasta el 4 º grado. Synyster Gates asistió a Ocean View High School en Hungtington Beach, California y Mayfair High School en Lakewood, California. Según él, se reunió con el resto de la banda a través de The Rev (Jimmy Sullivan). The Rev y Synyster Gates se conocieron en una tienda de metal en 8º grado, cuando Jimmy comenzó a burlarse de el, pero cuando los dos comenzaron a hablar, se dieron cuenta de que ambos eran músicos y se convirtieron en amigos casi inseparables.
Admite abiertamente que no fue bueno en la escuela. Brian se graduó y asistió al Instituto de Músicos, en Hollywood , como parte del programa GIT, el estudio de la guitarra jazz. Hasta ese momento fue principalmente autodidacta viendo vídeos musicales y leyendo libros, lo cual es sorprendente porque su padre era y es un gran compositor y guitarrista (ha tocado con Frank Zappa durante su carrera). Medio año después, le llegó una llamada telefónica de Jimmy (y el resto de la alíneacion actual de A7x) pidiéndole reunirse y entrar en Avenged Sevenfold como guitarrista. Brian se unió a ellos en lugar de continuar su educación y convertirse en un músico de estudio.
Gates se unió a A7x cuando tenía 18 años a finales de 1999 , justo antes de la grabación del primer álbum, Sounding the seventh trumpet. Fue en su EP, "Warmness on the Soul", y en la re-edición de su primer álbum. También toca el piano en canciones como "The Beast and The Harlot" y "Sidewinder", aunque un amigo de la banda, el bajista Justin Sane, toca el piano en "Warmness on the Soul".
En el DVD Avenged Sevenfold "All Excess" hace hincapié en la puesta aparentemente aleatorio de nombres. Gates dijo que su nombre era el pensamiento de un borracho en coche por el parque con The Rev. Syn dijo exactamente, "Soy Synyster Gates, y soy jodididamente asombroso! "
Gates cita Django, Yitzhak Rochin,Dimebag Darrelll,Brian May Slash,John Petrucci, y Francis Canavan como sus guitarristas favoritos y mayores influencias. Ha ganado numerosos premios, entre ellos el "Young Shredder" premio del año en los premios Metal Hammer en 2006 y el "Guitarrista del Año" Premio de Guitarra Total de la revista en 2006. En junio de 2008 la revista Guitarra Mundial entrevistó a Syn, Shawn Butterfield (lector), preguntó: "Eres un "súper" guitarrista. Pero, ¿quién es tu gran ídolo?" a lo que el respondió "Definitivamente Slash!!, el guitarrista de Ozzy, Alexi Laiho (Children of Boddom), Jimi Hendrix, por supuesto,Dimebag Darrell (Pantera), Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin), y muchísimos mas!"
Synyster Gates fue también miembro de una banda de "Goblin Metal" llamada Pinkly Smooth con The Rev y Justin Sane. Pinkly Smooth se disolvió porque Gates y The Rev deseaban centrarse a tiempo completo en A7x, aunque cuando se les preguntó recientemente, ambos revelaron que hay una nueva idea del proyecto que se está planificando.
Gates tiene un hermano menor, Brent y una hermana menor, McKenna. Su padre, Brian Haner, llamado también cariñosamente por el grupo y por los fans “Papá Gates” es el guitarrista acústico oficial del grupo. Su padre es un músico y comediante conocido como "Guitar Guy", y actualmente está de gira con Jeff Dunham
Syn suele llevar un gorro negro que le hace inconfundible encima del escenario y ha lanzado una línea de ropa llamada Syn Gates Clothing, con su novia Michelle DiBenedetto con quien lleva mas de 3 años de relacion y es hermana gemela de Valary DiBenedetto pareja de M.Shadows, el vocalista de la banda. Tiene varios piercings y un gran numero de tatuajes. El primero que se hizo fue el numero 1 en un dedo de la mano.

Wuaa, pensar que no lo podía creer cuando me entere de que la estaban filmando *O*, mi cara fue de tanto asombro de que hicieran "live action" Alice in Wonderland, mi cuento favorito y pelicula animada *O*
Demasiado increíble, el trailer promete bastante, además que en calidad de actores no está nada mal..Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter (de mis favoritos), y Anne Hathaway.
En fin, es algo como un sueño hecho realidad *O*!
